Digital Strategy & Marketing Consulting

Audit, strategy and ongoing advisory: one plan across every channel, with clear decision rights.

A digital marketing consultant decides what your marketing should do before anyone decides how to run it. Our digital strategy consulting starts with an audit of channels, data, content and suppliers, then sets audience, positioning, channel mix, a KPI tree, a budget allocation method, a measurement plan and a roadmap. Governance fixes who decides and how often the plan is reviewed. Execution happens in our service hubs, with your in-house people or with another supplier.

/01 · Definition

What is digital marketing consulting?

Digital marketing consulting is independent advice on how a company should win and keep customers online: an audit of current channels, data and suppliers, a strategy that sets audience, positioning, channel mix, KPIs and budget allocation rules, and governance that decides who executes what. A digital marketing consultant owns the plan and the reasoning behind it, not the daily running of campaigns. At SEO Evaluate the offer is audit, strategy and ongoing advisory; execution sits in our service hubs or with your own people.

An execution agency is paid to make a channel perform. A strategy engagement asks which channels deserve money at all, in what order and against which business outcome, starting from the business model and the buyer rather than a list of channels.

This is a standalone advisory service with no sub-services of its own. Training products, brand identity and creative production, AI application development, web builds and operational e-export or logistics are not offered; where a strategy depends on them, we name the dependency and you choose the supplier.

/02 · Who it is for

Who hires a digital marketing consultant

  • Companies spending on several channels without one plan

Each channel has an owner and a report; nobody owns how they add up, and leadership cannot say which spend works.

  • Marketing leads with an in-house team

Your people execute well. You need an outside view to set priorities, challenge assumptions and give the board a plan it can approve.

  • Founders before the first marketing hire or agency

A strategy gives you the brief, the KPIs and the questions to ask, so the first commitment is made against a plan rather than a pitch.

  • Companies entering new markets or languages

Moving between Türkiye and English, Arabic or Persian-speaking markets changes audience, competitors, search behaviour and channel choice. The plan says where to start and what to defer.

/03 · Problems we solve

Problems a strategy engagement is built to solve

  • No shared objective

Channels report clicks, followers or rankings while leadership asks about leads and revenue. Without a KPI tree, every report is accurate and none answers the question.

  • Budget follows history

This year's split mirrors last year's. There is no rule for when money moves between channels or what evidence would justify it.

  • Measurement nobody trusts

GA4, the ad platforms and the CRM disagree, and conversion definitions differ by channel. Decisions rest on whichever number supports them.

  • Unclear decision rights

The agency waits for approval, the in-house team waits for the agency, and nobody is accountable for the plan as a whole.

  • AI search missing from the plan

Buyers ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google's AI features for recommendations, yet nobody has decided whether the brand should appear there or how to check.

The digital marketing audit: method

The audit covers the whole system and works from access-level data, not screenshots: GA4 and the tag manager, Search Console, ad accounts, the CRM, social accounts and the content inventory. We also interview each area's owner, because many problems sit in handovers, not settings.

It answers five questions in order. Can the numbers be trusted? Where does demand come from, by channel, market and language? What does each channel cost against the outcome it is credited with? What do competitors do in search, paid, social and AI answers that you do not? What can your current people and suppliers realistically deliver? Findings enter a register with severity, effort, owner and dependency; a broken purchase event outranks a weak headline because it corrupts every decision built on it.

Strategy design: audience, positioning, channel mix and budget

Strategy starts with who buys and how they decide. Sales and CRM data, customer interviews, search demand per market and buyer questions produce a short list of segments, each with its problem, vocabulary, research channels and objections. Positioning then states what you offer, for whom and why it beats the alternatives, per segment and market. This is messaging and proof structure; visual identity is outside the scope.

The channel mix follows explicit rules. Each channel gets a role in the customer journey (create demand, capture demand, convert, retain), an entry condition such as working tracking and a landing page that answers the query, a primary metric and an exit rule stating which result over which period would lead us to recommend cutting it. Channels that fail the entry condition wait.

A KPI tree links the business goal (revenue, qualified leads, booked consultations, trials) to the few metrics that drive it, and those to the channel metrics each executor controls. Every node has a definition, a source and an owner.

Budget allocation is a method, not a number we invent. Starting from the outcome you need and the economics you can sustain (margin, customer lifetime value, sales capacity), spend is split into three layers: proven channels funded to the point of diminishing returns, a fixed test reserve, and demand creation judged over longer windows. Money moves at review points, on agreed triggers.

Measurement and governance: decision rights and review cadence

Governance makes decision rights explicit with a RACI matrix: for each recurring decision one person is accountable, named people do the work, and others are consulted or informed. Underneath sits the measurement plan, specified so that whoever implements analytics can build and verify it.

A typical cadence is a weekly operational check run by executors, a monthly review against the KPI tree where reallocation triggers are applied, and a quarterly strategy review of roadmap, channel roles and positioning. Every review ends with written decisions in a log, so the reasoning survives staff and supplier changes.

Engagement models

  • One-off digital marketing audit

A fixed-scope assessment with a written report, findings register and walkthrough, useful before a budget round or supplier change.

  • Strategy project

The audit plus the full strategy, from audience brief to governance pack, ending with execution briefs for whoever runs the work.

  • Ongoing advisory

Monthly and quarterly reviews, decision support in between and plan updates. Some buyers call this a fractional marketing lead; it is an advisory role, and authority over people and budget stays with you.

  • Integrated consulting with execution

Advisory plus one or more of our execution services; the plan stays channel-neutral so another supplier could run it.

International and multilingual markets

International strategy starts with market analysis: demand by country and language, competitors, platform mix, buyer questions, rules on marketing claims and whether you can serve a lead from that market. The output supports a go, wait or no-go decision per market. Operational e-export, logistics, customs and marketplace account operation are not part of the offer.

Language is a strategy decision, not a translation task. Turkish, English, Arabic and Persian audiences trust different proof and use channels differently, so each market gets its own audience brief, keyword map, message hierarchy, budget layer and KPI row. Content in all four languages is produced natively with reviewer approval, with right-to-left layouts planned for Arabic and Persian. For Persian, the realistic search and social audience is usually the diaspora outside Iran.

AI search and AI-enabled marketing operations

Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode, ChatGPT search, Perplexity and Gemini summarise options before a click. A strategy therefore decides which questions the brand should be present for, which owned and third-party sources support that, and how presence is checked. GEO (generative engine optimisation) gets its own node in the KPI tree.

We also review workflows such as briefing, content production and reporting, and advise where AI tools fit, what human review each step needs and which data must never enter a third-party tool. This is workflow and governance advice; we do not build AI applications, custom models or automation software.

/14 · Method and process

How a strategy engagement runs

  1. 01

    1. Scoping and access

We agree the business question, the markets and languages in scope and the decisions the output must support. You grant read access to analytics, ad accounts, Search Console and CRM exports, and name the people to interview. Scope and engagement model are confirmed in writing.

  2. 02

    2. Audit and interviews

Tracking, channels, content, competitors, AI answers and suppliers are assessed and each owner is interviewed. Findings enter the register as they appear; anything that corrupts measurement is flagged at once, because every later analysis depends on it.

  3. 03

    3. Audience, market and positioning

Segments, buyer questions and market priorities are drafted from the audit evidence and tested with your sales and service people. Positioning is agreed per segment and market before any channel decision, so channels serve the message rather than the reverse.

  4. 04

    4. Strategy design

Channel roles, the KPI tree, the budget allocation method, the measurement plan and the roadmap are drafted and challenged with you in working sessions. Disagreements are settled on evidence and recorded, so the final document shows why each choice was made.

  5. 05

    5. Governance, handover and review

We set up the RACI matrix, cadence and decision log and walk executors through their briefs, each with an objective, a KPI node, dependencies and a definition of done. At the first quarterly review we compare execution with the roadmap and adjust; advisory continues on the same structure.

/15 · Measurement and KPIs

How the strategy is measured

Each indicator has a stated method and no promised figure.

  • KPI tree

    Business outcome

Revenue, qualified leads, consultations or trials, measured in the CRM or commerce platform against the audit baseline.

  • Model

Cost per qualified outcome by channel

Platform spend divided by CRM-matched outcomes, reported with the attribution model and its known gaps.

  • Plan

    Measurement coverage

Planned events and conversions implemented and verified, checked at each monthly review.

  • Tracker

    Roadmap delivery

Items completed, delayed or dropped each quarter, with the reason recorded.

  • Log

    Decision follow-through

Whether logged decisions were executed on time and had the expected effect.

/16 · Common challenges

Common challenges in strategy work

  • Late data access

Without read access, an audit becomes an opinion; access is requested at scoping.

  • A strategy without an owner

If nobody inside is accountable, the plan becomes a file on a shared drive. Governance names the owner before handover.

  • Suppliers defending their channel

Channel-neutral rules and written exit criteria keep the discussion on evidence.

  • Regulated claims

In health, finance and similar sectors, the strategy flags claims that need approval; that approval comes from your own qualified people.

/17 · Strategic considerations

Considerations, including when you do not need a consultant

  • You do not need one if the plan is clear

With a working KPI tree, trusted measurement and a known constraint such as capacity, buy execution, not advice.

  • You do not need one for a single-channel question

If one channel matters and the question is how to run it, start from that channel's service page; its audit includes the channel strategy.

  • Advice needs access and a sponsor

Recommendations need the data behind them and a senior person to act on them.

  • Decide on a test reserve early

A strategy with no money for tests can only rearrange what exists. Agree whether a reserve is possible before starting.

/19 · Frequently asked questions

Digital marketing consulting: frequently asked questions

What does a digital marketing consultant do?

A digital marketing consultant audits how a company currently wins customers online, then designs the plan: audiences and markets, positioning, which channels get a role, how success is measured, how budget is allocated and who decides what. The consultant is accountable for the quality of that plan and its reviews, while specialists or your in-house people run the channels.

What is the difference between a marketing consultant and an agency?

An agency is hired to execute: it runs campaigns, produces content and reports on its channels. A consultant is hired to decide what should be executed, in which order and against which measure, across all channels. The risk of an agency alone is activity without cross-channel direction; the risk of a consultant alone is a plan nobody runs.

How is a digital marketing strategy built?

In sequence. An audit establishes the current state and whether the data can be trusted. Audience and market work defines who buys and how they decide, and positioning sets the message. The channel mix, KPI tree, budget allocation method and measurement plan follow, and a roadmap with governance turns them into owned, dated work.

When do you need a digital marketing consultant?

Typically before a large budget decision, when entering a new market or language, when suppliers report conflicting results, or before the first marketing hire or agency contract. If you already have a trusted plan and only lack capacity, you need execution rather than consulting.

What do we receive at the end of a strategy engagement?

A written audit with a findings register, audience and market briefs, a positioning statement, a channel role table, a KPI tree, a budget allocation model applied to your budget, a measurement plan, a prioritised roadmap, a RACI matrix with review cadence, and execution briefs each discipline can act on without repeating discovery.

Who executes the strategy?

You choose. Each roadmap item becomes a brief that your in-house people, another supplier or one of our execution services, such as SEO, paid media, social media management, content or analytics and CRO, can pick up. The RACI matrix records who is responsible for each item, so execution choices never blur accountability.

How do you plan for international and multilingual markets?

Each market is analysed for demand, competitors, platform mix, buyer questions and claim rules, ending in a go, wait or no-go recommendation. Markets that proceed get their own audience brief, message hierarchy, budget layer and KPI row. Content in Turkish, English, Arabic and Persian is produced natively with reviewer approval.

How does AI search change a digital marketing strategy?

Google's AI features, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini can give buyers summarised recommendations before they visit a site. The strategy defines which questions the brand must be present for, which sources support that presence and how it is checked over time, so AI search becomes a node in the KPI tree rather than an afterthought.

Do you offer a fractional CMO?

We offer ongoing advisory, which some companies call a fractional marketing lead arrangement: regular reviews, decision support and plan updates. It is advice, not a seat in your management team; authority over people, budget and suppliers stays with you. If you need someone to manage a team day to day, a hire or an interim manager fits better.
