Marketplace & Cross-Border E-commerce Marketing

Listings, sponsored ads, brand stores and measurement on Turkish and international marketplaces. The marketing, not the operations.

Marketplace marketing decides whether shoppers find and choose your products inside Amazon, Trendyol, Hepsiburada and the platforms you sell on abroad. SEO Evaluate runs the marketing layer: listing content and in-marketplace search optimisation, sponsored ads, brand store content, traffic from outside the marketplace, listings written natively for each market, and measurement that is honest about what marketplaces report. Seller account operation, stock, pricing, fulfilment and customer service stay with you or your operator.

/01 · Definition

What is marketplace marketing?

Marketplace marketing is the work that makes products visible and persuasive inside a marketplace's own search and advertising system. It covers listing content and attributes, in-marketplace search optimisation, sponsored ads, brand store and brand content, traffic sent from outside the platform, and measurement. For cross-border sellers it also covers listings localised for each market. It is distinct from marketplace operations: opening and running seller accounts, uploading products, managing stock and prices, fulfilling orders and answering customers.

A marketplace is a search engine with a checkout attached. Shoppers type a query, the platform ranks offers on relevance and sales performance, and sponsored placements sit among the organic results. Winning there takes the disciplines of web search and paid media, applied to rules each marketplace writes for itself. Your staff or operator keeps the operational side running, and a short written hand-off connects the two, so nothing we recommend depends on an action nobody owns.

/03 · Problems we solve

Problems this work solves

  • Ad spend without a structure

Automatic campaigns run on every product, search terms are never reviewed and nobody can say which products earn their advertising.

  • Listings that lose the search

Titles miss the words shoppers use, attributes are empty and the category mapping hides products from filters.

  • Machine-translated international listings

Cross-border listings are literal translations with wrong units, odd phrasing and none of the terms local buyers search.

  • Reports nobody trusts

Marketplace dashboards, ad consoles and analytics disagree, and external campaigns cannot be connected to marketplace sales.

Which marketplaces we work on

In Türkiye the work usually centres on Trendyol and Hepsiburada, with Amazon.com.tr, N11 and Çiçeksepeti where the category sells there. Each has its own search logic, attribute set, ad products and seller centre documentation, so the plan is written per platform rather than copied across.

For cross-border sellers we cover Amazon's European and US marketplaces, Etsy for handmade and design categories, and regional platforms such as noon in the Gulf or Trendyol's international sales channel where a brand already has access. We name these platforms because shoppers use them, not because of any partnership: SEO Evaluate holds no marketplace partner status and works inside each platform's published rules. Choosing which country to enter comes first, and belongs to international market entry consulting.

Listing content and in-marketplace search optimisation

Marketplace search rewards relevance and conversion. We build a keyword and attribute map per category from the platform's search suggestions, your ads' search term reports and competitor listings, then rewrite titles, bullet points and descriptions so shoppers' words appear where the platform reads them. Attributes and category mapping get the same care, because empty fields remove products from filtered results.

Images often decide the click. We brief main images that follow each platform's image rules, infographics that answer buyers' questions, and lifestyle or scale shots; your photographer produces them. On Amazon, A+ content and brand content under Brand Registry add comparison charts and brand story modules, which we plan and write.

Reviews follow platform policy without exception. We do not buy, swap or incentivise reviews, or advise review gating. We improve what drives honest reviews, accurate listings and clear expectations, and use programmes the marketplace runs itself, such as Amazon Vine, where products are eligible.

Sponsored ads strategy and management

On Amazon we plan Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands and, where useful, Sponsored Display; on Trendyol and Hepsiburada we use their product advertising tools, including Hepsiburada's HepsiAd. Campaigns are split by intent: brand, category, competitor and discovery terms, so each is bid and judged separately, within the advertising policies set out in Amazon Seller Central help and the Trendyol and Hepsiburada seller centres.

Weekly management covers search term reviews, negative keywords, bid and budget changes, and moving proven terms into exact-match campaigns. We read ACoS and TACoS as diagnostics alongside your margin data, not as targets to hit at any cost, and flag products whose advertising does not pay back so you can decide whether to fix the listing, the price or the spend.

Brand stores and traffic from outside the marketplace

A brand store gives shoppers somewhere to go after the product page: collections, best sellers and the brand story in one place. We plan it, write the copy and brief the design so it works as a landing page for brand searches and external traffic.

External traffic matters for launches and for crowded categories. We plan Google Ads, Meta and social campaigns that point to listings or the store, tag every link so marketplace reports can recognise it where the platform supports that, and agree in advance how results will be judged.

Multilingual listing localisation

A listing that sells in Istanbul will not sell in Munich or Dubai if it is only translated. Each language starts from that market's own searches: the nouns shoppers use, the attributes they filter by, units, sizes and the objections local reviews reveal. Turkish, English and Arabic listings are written natively with reviewer approval, never machine-translated and pasted.

Where a marketplace needs another language, such as German or French on Amazon's European stores, we supply the keyword map and content brief for a writer you appoint and check the result against it. Every localised listing is checked against that marketplace's style rules before upload.

Measurement and the limits of attribution

Marketplaces report a lot about their own ads and little about the shopper. Business reports, ad consoles, Amazon Brand Analytics and seller centre dashboards show sessions, conversion and ad-attributed sales, but rarely share customer data, and attribution windows differ by platform. Google Analytics cannot see a purchase made on a marketplace.

Our measurement model admits those gaps. On Amazon, Amazon Attribution can connect tagged off-Amazon campaigns to on-Amazon activity; elsewhere we combine tagged links, campaign-specific codes and time-based comparisons. The monthly report separates organic from advertised sales where the platform allows and states the confidence of each number.

Marketplace or your own store: a decision table

Most sellers use both. The question is which role each channel plays for a given product and market.

/12 · Method and process

How a marketplace marketing engagement runs

  1. 01

    Access and audit

We take read access to seller centres and ad accounts, then audit listings, attributes, images, brand content, ad structure and reports per marketplace. Problems are ranked by effect on visibility and conversion; anything outside our scope is listed for your operator.

  2. 02

    Keyword, attribute and competitor map

For each category and marketplace we map the searches, filters and competitor listings that matter. The map is the shared reference for listing content, ad keywords and localisation, so all three use the shopper's language.

  3. 03

    Listing and brand content

We rewrite priority listings first, write image and brand content briefs, and plan the brand store. Your operator uploads changes from the hand-off sheet; we check them live.

  4. 04

    Sponsored ads build

We restructure or set up campaigns by intent, add negative lists and bidding rules, and agree the review rhythm and decision rules with you before spend moves.

  5. 05

    Measure, report and iterate

A monthly report covers visibility, conversion, ad efficiency and what changed, with next priorities. Each quarter we revisit the keyword map and the marketplace-versus-store split.

/13 · Measurement and KPIs

How the work is measured

Measurement methods, not promised figures. Baselines come from your own marketplace and ad reports before any change.

  • Ranking checks

    Search visibility

Position of priority products for mapped keywords in each marketplace's search, sampled on a fixed schedule.

  • Business reports

    Listing conversion

Sessions and the platform's conversion measure, before and after content changes.

  • Ad console

    Advertising efficiency

ACoS, TACoS and cost per order read against margin data, per campaign intent.

  • Split

    Organic versus advertised sales

Orders not attributed to ads, where reported, as a check on dependence on spend.

  • Attribution

    Off-marketplace contribution

Tagged campaigns tracked through Amazon Attribution or tagged links and codes, with stated confidence.

/14 · Common challenges

Common challenges

  • Rules change without notice

Marketplaces revise ranking factors, ad formats and content rules on their own schedule. We track seller centre announcements and adjust the plan.

  • Price and stock override marketing

A strong listing cannot win while out of stock or priced well above rivals. We do not manage either, so we flag these conflicts to you quickly.

  • Thin data in new markets

A new marketplace has little history. Early decisions rely on competitor listings and search suggestions, with confidence stated.

/15 · Strategic considerations

Considerations, and when this is not the right service

  • You need someone to run the account

For account opening, product uploads, stock and price management, order handling or customer service, hire a marketplace operator. We work alongside operators; we do not replace one.

  • Your questions are about exporting itself

Logistics, customs, VAT registration, regulatory compliance, company setup and e-export incentive applications are not offered. Speak to an export consultancy, logistics provider or tax adviser first.

  • You have not chosen a market yet

If you are still deciding where to sell abroad, international market entry consulting answers that before marketplace marketing begins.

  • The issue is store-wide strategy

If assortment, pricing logic, channel mix and unit economics across the business are unresolved, settle that e-commerce growth strategy first.

  • Margins cannot carry fees and advertising

If commission and ad costs already exceed what a product can bear, better listings will not fix it. Review pricing and range first.

/16 · Frequently asked questions

Marketplace marketing: frequently asked questions

Will you run our seller account?

No. We do not open or operate seller accounts, upload products, manage stock or prices, process orders or answer customers. We work with read and advertising access, write every content change into a hand-off sheet for your staff or operator, and check each change once live. Ad accounts stay in your name throughout.

How do you manage Amazon and Trendyol ads?

We structure campaigns by intent, separating brand, category, competitor and discovery terms, so each is bid and judged on its own. Weekly we review search terms, add negatives, adjust bids and budgets, and promote proven terms to exact match. ACoS and TACoS are read against your margins as diagnostics, and we do not promise target figures.

Do you cover Amazon in Europe and the US?

Yes, for marketing: listing content, localisation, A+ and brand content, sponsored ads and reporting on Amazon's European and US marketplaces, alongside Etsy and regional platforms such as noon where you already sell. Registration, VAT, product compliance, customs and fulfilment set-up are not offered and stay with your specialist partners.

How do you localise listings for other countries?

Each language starts from local searches, filters, units and the questions shoppers ask in reviews, not from your Turkish text. Turkish, English and Arabic listings are written natively with reviewer approval; for other languages we brief a writer you appoint. Every listing is checked against that marketplace's style rules before upload.

Can you help us get more reviews?

Only within platform rules. We do not buy, exchange or incentivise reviews or filter who is asked. We improve the factors behind honest reviews, such as accurate listings, clear expectations and useful post-purchase information, and use programmes the marketplace runs itself, such as Amazon Vine, where your products qualify.

How do you measure sales that ads or external campaigns drive?

We combine the marketplace's business and ad reports with tagged links, campaign-specific codes and, on Amazon, Amazon Attribution for off-Amazon campaigns. Marketplaces share limited customer data and use different attribution windows, so each figure in our report carries a stated confidence.

Should we sell on marketplaces or on our own store?

Usually both, with different roles. Marketplaces lean ahead where shoppers start their search inside the platform, the brand is new or a cross-border test needs quick reach. Your own store leans ahead for margin, customer data and brand control. We set the role per product and market.
